Marsh Madness

The Terrapin Siblings Contest!

260 Calvert County third grade students participated in a unique CHESPAX originated contest to explore the dual roles of heredity and how the environment shapes the traits of living things,

Their challenge was to look at terrapin traits to see which terrapins were brothers and sisters. Watch the journey on Youtube!

This challenge stems from the terrapin project, which is a central element of the third grade science curriculum. Students had access to photos and data on Terrapin Tales to help them determine their responses.

CONGRATULATIONS to Caleb Anderson from Mutual Elementary School!! Caleb is a student of Mrs. Walker’s third grade science class, and his win earned him a certificate and sweet treat, which he shared with his classmates.
